Bing Crosby + David Bowie = genius
We were only youngsters. But we will never forget. When Bing Crosby invited the young rock star David Bowie onto his Christmas special on Sept. 11, 1977, that is the day magic truly happened by the unusual pairing. The intro -- with Bowie pretending to just pop in to Bing's cousin's place -- is so scripted and stilted, yet it works. Moments later, all is right with the world when these two just happen to sing Peace on Earth and The Little Drummer Boy, harmonizing two songs that otherwise wouldn't have been layered.

Album of the moment: Gary Louris, Vagabonds. Set for release in February, the former Jayhawks frontman and Golden Smog member's amazing solo album is produced by Chris Robinson of The Black Crowes. The soaring backup vocals are provided by The Laurel Canyon Family Choir, which includes Susanna Hoffs of The Bangles, the ever-talented indie rocker Jenny Lewis, and even Robinson. Click below for a link to a couple of tracks on Louris' myspace page from the upcoming release.

Nope, they didn't break up. Just took a little hiatus.
In the meantime, while we get things back in gear, here's an excellent X-Mas song by one of our favorites...Low.
Not sure if the video is legit, but we think you'll enjoy it. While you're at it, go ahead and buy the album. It spins all year long on our Ipods.
